Ghostbusters 3 – are we going to call them?

Dan Aykroyd is still hopeful that Ghostbusters 3 will be made. He seems confident that the third installment will start filming in Spring next year. This film will apparently feature new, younger Ghostbusters taking on the mantle of protector against all things ectoplasmic from the original stars, although Aykroyd still isn’t sure if Bill Murray will be involved with the new film.

Royal Society: One Culture

To celebrate their library’s 350th anniversary The Royal Society has announced the One Culture festival will be taking place later this year. Scientists. writers and historians will be coming together in a series of events on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October to explore the relationship between science and culture.

Top Ten: Movie Musicals

Of all the Top Ten lists I’ve done so far, or am likely to do, the Top Ten Movie Musicals is the toughest I can imagine. I love musicals, be they on stage or screen, and without a doubt they are my favourite film genre.

Another Earth to open Raindance

Raindance Film Festival has announced that the UK premiere of sci-fi drama Another Earth will open this year’s festival. Another Earth, directed by Mike Cahill, was a huge hit at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where it won the Alfred P Sloane prize for “focusing on science or technology as a theme, or depicting a scientist, engineer or mathematician as a major character”….

James Patterson is the world’s highest paid author

Crime writer James Patterson is the world’s best paid author according to Forbes magazine. Creator the Detective Alex Cross and the Women’s Murder Club, Patterson earned a mind-blowing £50.9 million last year ($84 million). Second placed writer was romance queen Danielle Steel who looks like a pauper in comparison, having earned a paltry £21 million. Other familiar names on the list include Stephen King, John Grisham and Stephanie Meyer, creator of the Twilight series. I think I’m going to get into this writing lark. £50 million a year sounds like a nice little earner – just about enough to keep up with my movie and book habit…
