At a press conference this morning a number of details of the forthcoming James Bond film were revealed. Known until now only as Bond 23 the title has been confirmed as Skyfall – not sure yet what I think of the title, but then I liked Quantum of Solace and no-one else in the world seemed to so perhaps I’m not the best judge of Bond titles. Daniel Craig is returning as Bond….
V for Vendetta
Is there anything worse than a right-wing government making huge cuts to services? You wouldn’t think so but there is – humourless lefties constantly telling us that said government will lead to tanks on the streets, repression of the people and the end of civilisation as we know it…
V for Vendetta
We’re fast approaching Guy Fawkes Night and what better way to celebrate than by looking at some films, books and television programmes which celebrate great revolutionaries? And of course counting down the best explosions in film? For the first time since the Harry Potter series I’m running reviews of a movie and the book that it is based on side by side…
More Les Mis Casting News
I breathed a massive sigh of relief this morning when I read that Eddie Redmayne has been cast as Marius in the film adaptation of Les Miserables. Not because I’m a big fan of his, in fact I know nothing about him although he has a strong theatrical background which is encouraging. The BFG
An ongoing bone of contention in a couple of the #BookTwub discussions has been the feud between fans of Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl as to which is the greatest children’s author. One week Blyton came out on top but the following week Dahl triumphed…

Great timing for Christmas presents – if anyone can wait the 23 days to see it. One of the special features on the disk is an interview of JK Rowling by Daniel Radcliffe in which she admits that while she always intended that the three main characters would survive, there was a time when she seriously considered killing off Ron….
The Abyss
A few weeks ago I mentioned on Twitter that despite spending much of my time with a dive club, my knowledge of diving related books and films was limited to the PADI instruction manuals and DVDs. The suggestions came flooding in. Several people suggested The Abyss …
Spooks
It’s been just over a week now since the last ever episode of Spooks aired and I’ve just about recovered enough to put down in words my thoughts on the finale and how Spooks became such a phenomenon over the 9 years since it first began. I normally do my utmost to avoid spoilers but it’s going to be impossible …
Ghostbusters
What’s Hallowe’en without a tale of ghosties and ghoulies and things that go bump in the night? And what’s a Hallowe’en Horror Week series without a review of at least one ghost film? And who you gonna call to end all of these annoying questions? Ghostbusters!
