Madeline Miller WIns Orange Prize

Congratulations to debut novelist Madeline Miller who has won the Orange Prize for fiction with her first novel The Song of Achilles.  The Orange Prize celebrates women’s writing and I’ve always found it to be the literary prize that I’ve most identified with.  I’ve loved a number of recent winners including Small Island, We Need To Talk About Kevin and Half of a Yellow Sun.  Last year’s winner The Tiger’s Wife is one of my must reads of this summer and Miller’s heroic love story of the affair between Patroclus and Achilles looks like it might be making it onto my reading list soon.
